As a wedding photographer, I have the wonderful opportunity to observe and preserve a variety of cultural traditions including an array of rituals that occur during weddings. This certainly was the case last weekend as Ariella and Jeremy hosted their ceremony and celebration at Columbia University’s Faculty House. Family and friends were clearly moved during certain moments that are unique to a traditional Jewish wedding: when the couple signed their beautifully crafted ketubah (Jewish marriage contract), when Ariella was veiled (the bedeken ceremony), and when Jeremy was dressed in his kittel (a simple white cotton ceremonial robe).
The reception was kicked off by the very energetic Hora, followed by clever and very amusing schtick, featuring Ariella‘s and Jeremy‘s siblings — each have a twin brother! The room was filled with light, love and laughter.
